Today is 22^nd November. My 17^th Birthday. :)

And a very memorable one...

Ah ok before I get into details I�ll blog about what happened on Thursday.

I went with my college friends... Angeline, Seow Hwee, Si Han, Eve, Agnes, Edna and Sokyi for my birthday dinner <3 We went to this western restaurant in Bugis. Haha, I forgot the name. But there was Barack Obama standing outside. (WOW!) Lol. It was just a cardboard copy of him la. Would the American president come to Bugis? =/ I don�t think so. Haha xD

It was super fun, though Seow Hwee and Edna were very very late due to OSLE. The food was good, and the manager was really friendly :) After that we walked all the way to Suntec City and went to the book fair there. LOL. I got some �freebies� from eve, like a pen and the POP club mag she didn�t want.

Oh yes, they gave me my present too. I accidentally left it behind at the restaurant, but the nice manager came running after us :P haha. Sry!

Then I went home and opened it. It was a keychain with my namesake on it, and a dwarf from the Seven. Guess which one it was?

NOW. TODAY.

I was pretty apprehensive because I told Cybil I wanted a surprise. And knowing her wacky ideas, I was really nervous about what was gonna happen. So I started guessing alot. Haha. But she tried too hard to be mysterious and I guessed what they were gonna do so they had to change their plans. <--- She told me that after everything happened.

Apparently, I was told that they would call me at 4-5 and I would go off to J8. But she asked me this question, which raised my suspicions: �Will you be home before that?� HENCE. I guessed that they were coming to crash my house. She refused to say anything, but yep � lol. They were planning to do that.

Now what i�m going to tell you is how they managed to surprise me today.

XY called me at 4.30 and said that she was alone at J8�s rooftop (you know, the open air, playground area?). I called Cybil and she said she was running late cos she had a project in Kampong Glam before that and would be half an hour late.

I was like thinking - Eh. You�re going to be late? Huh. Then my surprise leh? -.-

Ah whatever. So I got changed and I went over to find XY. When I reached, she was there, together with Shi Kai (who, apparently, came �earlier�.) I honestly thought they were going to surprise me there -.- and I was thinking, SO PREDICTABLE LAH. But to my surprise, nothing happened!

OK. So suddenly XY stood up and said: �You know what? I haven�t got you your present yet. I�m going to go shop now.� That was so totally random that I got again, suspicious. I thought she was gonna come back with the rest in tow singing Happy Birthday or smth. I thought again: SO PREDICTABLE. -.-

But they didn�t! She came back with a plastic bag, and gave it to me. It was a nice pencil case (thanks dear :)) Then as I had to get a present for my sister, whose birthday was 4 days earlier, the three of us went walking around, and I bought her a casing for her DSLite.

After that, XY said she had to go to the toilet. When I was waiting for her inside, I got a call from Jiaying, asking for her Peach Girl VCD back, which she had loaned to me WAYYYY WAYYY WAYYYY back in secondary school. She said she needed it V urgently, and even though I said I was out with friends, she told me to go back home and find it.

I was damn pissed la!!! Wahlao! You didn�t even wish me happy birthday and even made such a selfish request! I was complaining VERY LOUDLY to XY while she was in the cubicle. Then, like the responsible person that I am, I told her and Shi Kai to wait in J8 for Cybil and the rest of the very very late friends(I had no idea who. Cybil didn�t even wanna tell me -.-), while I went and searched for that &*^&$$# VCD.

While I walked home my mood was quite bad. One, because yeah, of JY. Two, because all the friends that were supposed to be there for my birthday were VERY VERY LATE. I called Cybil while I was walking and told her I was going home for a while first. I think I even cursed a bit la. Lol :P I asked her where she was, and she said in a taxi and she was stuck in a traffic jam. I found this a bit weird because when I called her quite long ago she was already on her way. So I suspected that they were in my house, but I was too angry to think much about it.

When I reached my house I looked at the shoes outside � No unfamiliar ones. Eh. So i�m wrong again. Whatever. Now to find that *&$#$@ VCD.

When I walked upstairs to my room, I remember thinking, why the heck is my light so dim? Must be the light spoil � AHHHHHHH! Noise Avalanche!! Balloons and streamers and whatnot came pouring down on my head and when I looked up it was CYBIL TAN, CHEW JIAYING(THE VCD LOAN SHARK) AND ALL THE OTHER ERRANT LATECOMERS � YUNXI AND XIANNENG. And the dim light was actually coming from the candles on a birthday cake.

Sniff. It was all so surreal. I remember thinking, THEY ARE IN MY HOUSE? WTF? This is not real.

But it was! Haha!!! Together with a streamer that read: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

AHHHHH. xDDDD So amid all my confusion Cybil gave me a party hat to wear and they sang the birthday song and I blew out the candles :)

XY and Shi Kai who apparently trailed behind me came later and we all ate cake while sitting in my very narrow corridor.

Apparently my mom who went out too and came back earlier than me was thought to be me, and JY threw a balloon at her before they realised it was a false alarm -.- Haha. And they were all at J8 before and left when I came -.- my sis let them in. LOLness.

Haha we had to clean up after that because of all the streamers, then Yunxi had to leave because she had tons of math homework to hand up on Monday.

We went to J8�s swensons :) and I had the birthday ice cream. Ah, they sang the birthday song again despite me trying to escape.

I left at about 10 and before that Cybil gave me my birthday present. Apparently why she took so long to give it to me was that she thought I already had it. It was a Jay Chou 2004 Incomparable Concert VCD. I DON�T HAVE IT LAH. xD But i�ve always been meaning to. Thanks dear!!

In all, a VERY MEMORABLE 17^THBIRTHDAY THAT I WILL KEEP CLOSE TO MY HEART.

Back to update.. Cheryl was nagging me in band yesterday.

I'm so busy with PW now.. So *&^$% stressed! I wish for 7 Nov to come and i can leave PW far faaaaaaaaaaaar away from me FOREVER!!

FOREVER!!!!! Grrr.

Same with chinese. Can't believe that i won't be studying it anymore. I'll miss chen lao shi's classes :)

I really don't wanna get retained. I like my class people, and my band mates. I don't want to be in a new environment again.

OK. I'm going to do my SEA tutorial now. Shall tear myself away from the computer.

more of LYF's series. Since i'm in an wuxia mood, i decided to watch Chinese Paladin (Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan)

Not bad so far. LYF's Ling-er is like super duper different from XLN can! Super innocent!
Hu-ge is super cute too
Although i read that everyone's gonna die in the end, except Hu-ge =/ that kind of put me off, but the story's good so far, so i'm gonna continue.

I also tried to watch Forbidden Kingdom but i gave up halfway. The whole thing was just so... WEIRD! My gosh, who speaks english in ancient china? Even the Jade Emperor was speaking english! Some spoke english, some chinese. So confusing and it totally made it hard to get immersed in the plot cos the whole thing felt like some weird dream. Why didn't they make it all in chinese, it makes it even more authentic, instead of a pseudo-chinese western film(which is what it really is).
On the brighter side, Jackie Chan's character was hilarious. LYF's english is not bad. Only i don't like it when she speaks it (with an AMERICAN accent) in what's supposed to be ancient china <_<

and project work and band is starting to choke me up yet again.

Haiiii. I love project work. No, really.

Its really fun wrack your brain till it hurts for ideas, have loooong meetings, as well as work with uncooperative people.

It's feels so great to work so hard on a survey and yet have people giving us fake and act funny answers.

Argh. Just. A. Few. More. Months.

Endure.

I'm loving it! YES I DO!

I decided not to blog anymore about osaka cos everyone's already done it. Go see their lah. I'm exhausted. Blogging is exhausting.

Day Two of Osaka!

Before i begin, i recalled something i had forgotten to post about in my last last entry. Before the airport XY and I went to AMKSS Band's POP. So many memories =) Esp. during the recollection concert.

Ahem. Speaking of that... Guess who sat in front of me?

Heh heh. Ooops! xD

Okok. Now back to Day 2!

My roommates and I decided to skip hotel breakfast so we could sleep in

We were to have sightseeing and shopping before we visited Yuhigaoka High School. First, Osaka Castle!

We went to the top of the castle to look at the view.
My GOSH. The wind there was super shiok! Whywhywhy does singapore have to be so close to the equator?
The view there was also very nice (:

Jap children are very very very very adorable.
Very the kawaii!

After the sightseeing it was time for the GOOD stuff - SHOPPING!
They brought us to Shinsaibashi Street and we were supposed to settle our own lunch there. The street was so long that i didn't even walk finish it.
I prefer it to Orchard Road. Less brand names and more good bargains (:

Clothes in japan are very very expensive, though. I didn't buy home any =/
But the women there are very very very fashionably dressed!! Gosh! Almost all had dyed blonde hair and make up on. I think we looked weird compared to them in our casual band t-shirt and jeans =x

Then XY KU & I decided to find lunch first. We saw an all-you-can-eat-sushi buffet for only 1000� so we decided to try it out.

Sushi in Japan = Very Nice
Lol =D There were less varieties than in singapore(as we all know singapore likes to fuse western and jap food together), but it was really very good. Even for a cheap sushi buffet that also came with a drink and miso soup.
But as i was already bloated from the night before, i only managed to finish 12 plates =/

XY mananged about 19 plates and Kyou Un 21. Did i mention Kyou Un ate 3 bowls of rice the night before? I wonder where she puts it all =x

We then visited the 100� shop!
Bought LOTS of stuff. So cheap! Haha, most of them were meant as presents. Ahem. I'm cheapskate i know.

We spent a lot of time in that shop, haha.
After that we boarded the bus and reached Yuhigaoka High School at around 4.
Joey, my bus partner, was all excited when she found out that the school had guys(cos we previously thought it was a girls school), but she was disappointed later on that 98% of its band were made up of girls, 0% handsome boys. LOL.

According to Nazreen according to Mr Tan (lol), this band wasn't as fantastic as the ones we were to visit next time but they still sounded good. Better than us definitely =/
So when we first stepped into the school we were supposed to change our shoes and wear slippers. Again, exactly like what i've seen in jap dramas. I got excited again (:

I like their classrooms! So nice, big and windowy :D

We left there at about 6 plus and went for dinner =)
It was nice, japanese steamboat(different from previous night) and other stuff like sushi and karaage.
I only took a picture after we finished eating =/

It was really nice, but the smell went all over me. My clothes(inside and outside), my jacket, my bag, my hair.
For things like my bag the smell remained there for the rest of the trip no matter how much i tried to air it

Day One of Osaka!

OK! Photo blogging! (P.S. Some photos are from Joey's blog cos my camera died on me on the first day and i had to use my handphone camera which was rather inadequate. So most of my photos are with Joey, Clarissa, and XY)

Day One of Osaka:

The SIA group met at about 10pm at the airport the day before. Photos before we boarded the plane (:

The plane ride from singapore to osaka was about 7 hours. Our flght was at 1am so we had to catch some shut eye during the ride cos in the morning we would be starting our tour. I <3 Singapore Airlines, haha! I got the window seat and was sitting with clarissa and xiangyun. Thank God for window seats cos i had somewhere to put my head. I slept till about 6 plus and it was already bright outside. I chose the jap breakfast (: and it consisted of jap omelette, rice and 2 pieces of mackeral that would become my staple breakfast in the hotel (more on that later). Rice in the morning! =/ Of course i got really full and it was short of impossible to walk around the airplane so i got super bloated.

We touched down at around 830 at Kansai International Airport.

We then met with our tour guides. My bus's was a woman called Toyota. Yes, like the car. Haha. We were supposed to address her as Toyota-san. OMG. So Jap! My first taste of japan and its culture. We were all so excited (:

So we got onto the bus - my seating partner for the day was clarissa.

Oh. And the weather in japan was P E R F E C T. Like aircon everywhere you went. Not hot like singapore but not cold till you need bothersome scarves and gloves. Hence my NYJC windbreaker came in very handy every day there (:

Ok, back to topic. We were on the bus for about an hour, including a rest stop. The scenery was really quite nice.

On my first day there i was so squirmy with excitement because it was my first time in this foreign land which i had heard so much of before, and which i heard was full with rich culture.

We were on our way for sightseeing at Nara, where we would visit Nara Park and Todaiji Temple. According to the tour guide, deers at revered animals in Japan and hence they were allowed to roam freely in the parks in Nara. In Nara Park alone there are over 1000 deer roaming freely. I got a bit when i heard it.

Deer aren't that bad. At least i won't run away screaming when i see one, just quickly dodge away when i see one making its way towards me. I snapped a photo of cladys posing with a deer. Haha she looked... apprehensive.

After that was our first meal in Japan - lunch! It was so pretty! (:

Lunch was SUPER filling. I think i got twice as bloated as i was before halfway through it =/

After lunch we went to Todaiji Temple for more sightseeing. Bought souveniors for my sister (:

I don't want to post much photos of scenery cos its getting tiring :(

After that, to my delight, we headed for the hotel. Reached there at about 5 plus.

I was to share rooms with Xiang Yun and Kyou Un. Our room was small but cosy. The beds were quite low!

XY's bed was near the window, mine was next to hers (:

There's Kyou Un's bed, next to the chair. You can see the 3 chairs and table in the middle. So with our 3 suitcases open, there really isn't much space to walk =/

About 545, we met at the lobby and we walked to our dinner place. Now, if it had been thailand or any other tropical country, i would have complained. A lot. But here in Osaka with its beautiful weather and cold breeze in my face, i was happier walking than riding on the bus. (I miss the weather there already. *sigh* )

Dinner was steamboat! I ate with XY, KU, Joey, and Jessica. The view from where we sat was rather nice.

The food was alright, but not very japanese. It was like something you'ld get from marina bay. Haha. The only thing jap in there was the rice.

Since it was the first night, we were exempted from studying xD
So XY, Kyou Un, Clarissa and I went about exploring the shops. The shops there close really early. About 8 plus! =(

We couldnt find much to shop due to many shops being closed, and we got slightly lost and couldn't find our way back to the hotel, so we decided to take a look at their macdonalds, find a seat, look at the map, and try to figure our way back. Clarissa and I bought McFlurries

Jap people do understand a bit of english. So when we just told the cashier 'McFlurry' (anyone know whats it called in japanese?) and held up 2 fingers, she understood what we were talking about (;

Yup, so we found our way back to the hotel in the end. I bathed, then fell asleep cos we were supposed to meet quite early the next morning.

Ok, thats it for day one.

OHOH. Edit here! Before we met at the airport i went for AMKSS POP. A little messy but overall rather touching, esp. during the recollection concert.
